The Sfax region is located on the east coast of the Tunisia.The shallow aquifer system is located in the Mio-Pliocene layer formed by sand and clay and it consists of several permeable zones separated by discontinuous aquitards. In this area, groundwater is the main water
resource and is used by agriculture (80 per cent), industry (10 per cent) and domestically (5 to 10 per cent).
